{"id":17386,"date":"2025-07-23T06:57:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T06:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/17386\/"},"modified":"2025-07-23T06:57:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T06:57:09","slug":"john-fallon-former-celtic-goalkeeper-and-lisbon-lion-dies-at-age-84","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/17386\/","title":{"rendered":"John Fallon: Former Celtic goalkeeper and Lisbon Lion dies at age 84"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Former Celtic goalkeeper John Fallon &#8211; the 12th Lisbon Lion &#8211; has died at the age of 84.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Fallon was Celtic&#8217;s sole substitute on the famous night in 1967 when they defeated Inter Milan in Lisbon to become the first British club to win the European Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He also won six league titles, five League Cups and two Scottish Cups during a Celtic career spanning 14 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Fallon joined the Parkhead club in 1958 and made nearly 200 appearances.
