CINCINNATI, OHIO\u00a0\u2013 The Providence College men’s soccer team defeated Xavier, 3-2, on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Corcoran Field in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Friars improved to 3-5-1 (1-1-0 BIG EAST), while the Musketeers dropped to 3-3-2 (0-1-1 BIG EAST). Three different Friars found the back of the net, including freshman Angelo Ventrella<\/a> (Toronto, Canada) and seniors Sam Montalto<\/a> (Stonington, Conn.) and Ian Abbey<\/a> (Elmer, N.J.).

\n\u2022 The Friars scored just six minutes into the match (6:00), when Ventrella tallied his second goal of the season off a setup from Fernando Garcia Gil<\/a>.
\n\u2022 Providence doubled its lead in the 29th\u00a0minute (28:42), as Montalto buried his second goal of the year, assisted by Bruno Rosa<\/a>.
\n\u2022 Xavier cut the deficit before halftime, 2-1. Cooper Forcellini converted a penalty kick in the 45th\u00a0minute (44:35) for his eighth goal of the year.
