{"id":174391,"date":"2025-09-28T02:30:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-28T02:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/174391\/"},"modified":"2025-09-28T02:30:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T02:30:12","slug":"nascar-ejects-cup-crew-chief-for-inspection-violation-at-kansas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/174391\/","title":{"rendered":"NASCAR ejects Cup crew chief for inspection violation at Kansas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KANSAS CITY, Kan. \u2014 NASCAR ejected crew chief Travis Peterson after an inspection issue with Michael McDowell\u2019s car ahead of Saturday\u2019s practice and qualifying at Kansas Speedway.<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR stated that after McDowell\u2019s car passed inspection the team was observed making an unapproved adjustment to the splitter. NASCAR sent the car back through inspection and it failed due to the adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>Along with ejecting Peterson, NASCAR also penalized the team:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Loss of pit selection for Sunday\u2019s race.<br \/>\u2014 McDowell will have to start at the rear of the field.<br \/>\u2014 McDowell must do a stop-and-go penalty after receiving the green flag in Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p>Matt McCall, a former Cup crew chief, who is Spire Motorsports\u2019 director of vehicle performance, will serve as McDowell\u2019s crew chief in Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR also announced that the car of Cody Ware failed inspection twice. Car chief Dave Jones was ejected.
