{"id":174618,"date":"2025-09-28T05:00:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-28T05:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/174618\/"},"modified":"2025-09-28T05:00:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T05:00:07","slug":"ufc-legend-wanderlei-silva-knocked-out-cold-in-post-fight-brawl-after-crazy-comeback-bout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/174618\/","title":{"rendered":"UFC legend Wanderlei Silva knocked out cold in post-fight brawl after crazy comeback bout"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UFC legend Wanderlei Silva\u2019s first fight in seven years was a complete disaster. <\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old took a long break from combat sports after being <a href=\"https:\/\/bloodyelbow.com\/2018\/09\/30\/bellator-206-results-rampage-jackson-tko-wanderlei-silva-in-round-2-mma-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">knocked out by Quinton \u2018Rampage\u2019 Jackson at Bellator 206<\/a> in September 2018. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bloodyelbow.com\/tag\/wanderlei-silva\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"1705\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wanderlei Silva<\/a> returned against former two-time world boxing champion Acelino Freitas (41-2) in an exhibition at Spaten Fight Night 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Axe Murderer\u2019 outweighed his opponent by 44lbs, but it didn\u2019t help him when they fought on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"756\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-162988037-1024x756.jpg\" alt=\"Wanderlei Silva covered in bloody during his fight with Brian Stann\" class=\"wp-image-141343\" \/>Photo by Josh Hedges\/Zuffa LLC\/Zuffa LLC via Getty ImagesWanderlei Silva\u2019s first fight in 7 years <\/p>\n<p>Wanderlei Silva was dominated by the much more experienced boxer during the first two rounds. <\/p>\n<p>So, the MMA legend decided to get back to his roots and use illegal methods against Acelino Freitas.<\/p>\n<p>Silva was deducted two points for throwing repeated headbutts before ultimately being disqualified. <\/p>\n<p>The referee had seen enough and waved things off at 1:34 of round four. <\/p>\n<p>Post-fight, all hell broke loose in the ring with members of both teams trading punches. <\/p>\n<p>Silva ran into a massive hook from an unknown person that left him out cold on the ring floor. <\/p>\n<p>Wanderlei Silva was supposed to face Vitor Belfort<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bloodyelbow.com\/tag\/vitor-belfort\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"507\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vitor Belfort<\/a> was originally scheduled to be Wanderlei Silva\u2019s opponent at Spaten Fight Night 2.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bloodyelbow.com\/2020\/12\/03\/fight-archives-vitor-belfort-pummels-wanderlei-silva-in-the-ufcs-brazil-debut-mma-history\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Belfort knocked Silva out in 44 seconds<\/a> when they met in MMA at UFC Brazil in 1998. <\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, \u2018The Axe Murderer\u2019 was robbed of a chance at revenge when Belfort withdrew from their rematch. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Phenom\u2019 says he suffered two concussions in training, but his long-time rival isn\u2019t buying it. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe needs to do what he\u2019s always talking about,\u201d Silva said at a press conference last Sunday. \u201cHe\u2019s always talking about strength, perseverance, optimism, and then does that. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat shows how important the mental part is for the athlete. An athlete needs to be confident, to believe in himself. He must know what he can do. He should stand in front of the mirror and say, \u2018I\u2019m a lion! I\u2019m a lion!\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything, right? Hire a psychologist, do therapy, right? But this fight is scheduled for next year. Like I said, I would be here on the 27th. I\u2019m here. I\u2019ll be here next time, too.
