The Hope College men’s tennis team concluded fall play Friday at the ITA Central Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo College, delivering composed performances and competitive results in what marked a strong showing.<\/p>\n

Junior Ned Curley<\/a> (Plymouth, Michigan \/ Detroit Catholic Central HS) advanced through the Round of 128 with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win over Alma College’s Eli Festerling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Curley’s run ended in the next round\u00a0with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Andreas Chapides of Denison University.<\/p>\n

Junior Cooper Nugent<\/a> (Rochester Hills, Michigan \/ Rochester Adams) also earned a first-round singles victory, defeating Dreek Saha of Earlham College 6-2, 6-4.<\/p>\n

Nugent fell in the next round\u00a0to Kenyon College’s Alejandro Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-3.<\/p>\n

In doubles action, Nugent teamed up with junior Alec Maynard<\/a> (Northville, Michigan \/ Detroit Catholic Central) for an 8-3 win over North Central College’s Rafael Lessa and Phillip Wottgen in the Round of 128.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The duo dropped their next match to Case Western Reserve University’s Leon Chen and Jon Totorica, 8-4.<\/p>\n
