TORONTO \u2014 Riley Kidney<\/a> and Lane Hutson<\/a> each scored power-play goals in the second period and the visiting Montreal Canadiens<\/a> defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> 4-2 in NHL pre-season action on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Alex Newhook<\/a> had a goal and assist for the Canadiens, who outshot the Maple Leafs 29-23 at Scotiabank Arena. Sean Farrell<\/a> also scored for the visitors.<\/p>\n

John Tavares<\/a> scored a second-period power-play goal for the Maple Leafs, who went 1-for-3 with the man advantage, while the visitors were 2-for-3. William Nylander<\/a> scored with under four minutes left.<\/p>\n

The Canadiens led 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 heading into the third.<\/p>\n

The Canadiens outhit the Maple Leafs 30-28, and the Leafs blocked more shots (8-6).<\/p>\n

Montreal goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen<\/a> stopped 21 of 23 shots, while Anthony Stolarz<\/a> stopped 15 of 18 shots before giving way to Artur Akhtyamov<\/a>, who stopped 10 of 11 shots in the third period.<\/p>\n

WINNIPEG, Man. \u2014 Neal Pionk<\/a> had a goal and assist and the Winnipeg Jets<\/a> scored three goals in the first period en route to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Calgary Flames<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Walker Duehr<\/a>, Nikita Chibrikov<\/a> and Parker Ford<\/a> also scored for the Jets, who outshot the visitors 29-24.<\/p>\n

Zayne Parekh<\/a> and Matvei Gridin<\/a> scored for the Flames, and Morgan Frost<\/a> chipped in with two assists. The Flames went 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Jets were 1-for-3.<\/p>\n

Flames netminder Devin Cooley<\/a> stopped 25 of the 29 shots he faced, while Eric Comrie<\/a> stopped 22 of 24 shots in the Jets net.<\/p>\n

The Flames outhit the Jets 22-13, while the hosts blocked more shots (13-9).<\/p>\n
