Mission Bridgehead\u00a0Investment Corporation announces launch of ‘Health-for-Health’ initiative<\/p>\n
A new project is set to bring\u00a013 purpose-built housing units for healthcare professionals\u00a0within 150 meters of Mission Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n
Mission Bridgehead\u00a0Investment Corporation, an organized owned by the City of Mission but operated at arms-length, announced the launch of\u00a0the Health-for-Health initiative in a news release last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to a news release, the initiative aims to strengthen community healthcare services and improve the attraction and retention of healthcare professionals in Mission. Similar models have been implemented in Chilliwack and Vernon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bridgehead says “Health-for-Health” is supported by\u00a0Fraser Health, the Mission Division of Family Practice, Mission Altogether for Healthcare, Mission Memorial Hospital, and Community Futures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis collaborative effort ensures that the project not only supports local and provincial strategies for attracting a wide range of healthcare professionals but also integrates seamlessly with existing healthcare frameworks to meet evolving community needs. Together, these partnerships will play a crucial role in making healthcare in Mission more reliable and sustainable,\u201d the release reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alignment with the health hub in Mission’s official community plan was also noted in a the news release. Per the release, the project reinforces local solutions aimed at mitigating hospital closures and enhancing the dependability of healthcare services in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The Health-for-Health initiative represents an important investment in our community’s future by providing convenient and purpose-built accommodations near Mission Memorial Hospital that makes it easier for healthcare professionals to live and work in our community,” Bridgehead board chair Ryan Laurin said in the news release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bridgehead recently held its annual general meeting followed by an open house on Sept. 17.\u00a0<\/p>\n
