{"id":176846,"date":"2025-09-29T04:03:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-29T04:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/176846\/"},"modified":"2025-09-29T04:03:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T04:03:06","slug":"card-iii-wins-fortinet-cup-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/176846\/","title":{"rendered":"Card III wins Fortinet Cup Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">SURREY, British Columbia \u2014 Jay Card III claimed his second victory of the season at the Fortinet Cup Championship at Morgan Creek Golf Course, moving up to No. 2 in the final Fortinet Cup standings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Michael Brennan finished tied for fourth, cementing his status as the No. 1 player in the season-long race for the Fortinet Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Card entered the week at No. 5 in the standings and fired an 8-under 62 to come from behind and erase a two-stroke deficit Sunday. With the win, Card became the only player to claim victories in both the Latin America and North America swings, joining Brennan as the only players to win multiple times on PGA Tour Americas in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s so special,\u201d Card said after his win. \u201cYou know, it\u2019s one of those things where I felt really good about my position on the points list coming into this event, but you don\u2019t get that many opportunities to win. And when you do, to be able to capitalize on it, I mean, this is going to provide so much of a foundation going forward knowing that, \u2018Hey, I was 2 back going into Sunday and put up a 62.\u2019 I mean, just absolutely balled out \u2014 like 29 on the front. That does so much for confidence \u2026 I can come from behind, I\u2019ve won with a lead \u2026 These are things you kind of dream of happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Card secured status on the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2026 season and also earned an exemption into the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry, by finishing in the top 10 of the Fortinet Cup points list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s incredible,\u201d he said. \u201cTo be able to have a chance where, when I\u2019m on, I feel like there\u2019s no one better in the world. That\u2019s why I love this game. It\u2019s what makes me feel alive, it\u2019s what drives me to be better. A day like today is the thing that keeps you coming back. When I\u2019m hitting it the way I do, putting it, and to know I\u2019m one week away from playing on the PGA Tour \u2026 that\u2019s incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Following his win in Surrey, Card reflected on what made this victory, and the season, so meaningful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m thinking about all the good times, the bad times. Like, this year\u2019s been so much fun,\u201d Card said. \u201cThere\u2019s things we live for \u2014 those are the memories I\u2019ll cherish. Just the running to Dairy Queen or the karaoke night, or who knows what it is \u2026 I love those memories, and those are the things that are really going to stick with me.
