The Oklahoma State Cowgirls fell to Arizona, 3\u20131, in a Big 12 women\u2019s soccer matchup in Tucson on Sunday.<\/p>\n
After a tied and scoreless first half, the Wildcats were able to break that at the 62-minute mark when an OSU defensive miscue led to an own goal, giving Arizona a 1\u20130 lead. Just five minutes later, Mireya Stephenson netted her first collegiate goal to double their score. The Wildcats extended their lead to 3\u20130 at the 75-minute mark when Marissa Arnst scored her first career goal, assisted by Sami Baytosh.<\/p>\n
The Cowgirls continued to put up a fight, and at the 89-minute mark, Sonora De Fini connected on a free kick from Sophie Wilson, avoiding a shutout game with her third goal of the season. Unfortunately, it was too late to complete a full comeback. Arizona dominated statistically, outshooting OSU 21\u20136 and holding roughly 69% possession. Cowgirl goalkeeper Logan Marks kept her team in the game early with eight saves, including several in one-on-one situations.<\/p>\n
With the loss, OSU drops to 4\u20135\u20132 overall and 0\u20132\u20131 in Big 12 play, while Arizona improves to 7\u20134 overall and 2\u20131 in conference play. The Cowgirls will look to bounce back as conference action continues next week.<\/p>\n
