Madonna<\/a> is getting candid about family drama.<\/p>\n

The Queen of Pop spoke out during her first-ever podcast appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty<\/a> about her 2026 studio album<\/a>, and an upcoming song she wrote for it called \u201cFragile.\u201d <\/p>\n

During the conversation, she revealed it was inspired by her estranged late brother Christopher Ciccone<\/a>, who died in 2024<\/a>, and whom she hadn\u2019t spoken to for years and considered her \u201cenemy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to find a way to forgive even people that you perceive as your biggest enemies. For a really long time, it was my brother who died recently,\u201d She said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the hardest ones are the people that you feel like\u2026you\u2019re the closest to. They\u2019re your greatest ally and they turn on you. The people that hurt you the most are the people that you love the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving to forgive my brother or knowing that I had to forgive my brother was, you know, it\u2019s like your ego dances around it like, \u2018Yeah, yeah, yeah, I\u2019ll get to it. I\u2019ll get to calling him up or talking to him or being his friend or helping him.\u201d But eventually I did.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone you love deeply betrays you and does something that shows that they have no consciousness in that moment that they made that choice to do that, it\u2019s a bitter pill for me to swallow. I can\u2019t speak for everyone, but I imagine that lots of people feel this way,\u201d she went on to say.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor my brother, I didn\u2019t speak to him for, you know, for years, years, and years. And it was him being ill um and reaching out to me and saying, \u2018I need your help.\u2019 And me having that moment like, \u2018Am I going to help my enemy?\u2019 You know, that\u2019s how it felt. And I just did\u2026and I felt so relieved. It was such a load off my back, such a weight that was removed, baggage that I could put down to finally be able to be in a room with him and holding his hand even if he was dying and saying, \u2018I love you and I forgive you.\u2019 That was really important,\u201d Madonna explained.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd interestingly, I wrote a song about him. I\u2019m working on new music and I wrote a song called \u2018Fragile,\u2019 which is about my brother. And then I wrote another song\u2026it\u2019s called \u2018Forgive Yourself.\u2019 The chorus of the song is \u2018If you can\u2019t forgive me, forgive yourself,\u201d which is something we all have to do. We have to forgive others, but we also have to forgive ourselves and stop beating up on ourselves about things, choices we\u2019ve made in the past that haven\u2019t worked out for ourselves or other people.\u201d Watch from the 1:11:00 mark above.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Christopher published a book called Life With My Sister Madonna, which was a tell-all about his deteriorating relationship with Madonna over the years. <\/p>\n
