The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released linebacker Jonathan Jones from the practice squad on Monday according to the CFL Transactions<\/a> page.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Jones<\/a> is five foot eleven and weighs 230 pounds. The 27-year-old from Ocoee, Florida, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on January 30, 2025. In 2025, he made two tackles on special teams in three games.<\/p>\n

The Toronto Argonauts signed Jones as a free agent on June 25, 2022. In 2022, Jones made ten tackles, five tackles on special teams, one sack, and two interceptions in six games for the Argonauts, helping them win the Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2023, he made 49 tackles, 13 tackles on special teams, seven sacks, and one interception in 18 games.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Jones made 29 tackles, eight tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 12 games, helping the Argonauts win the 111th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It was Toronto\u2019s second championship in three seasons. The Argonauts released him on January 16, 2025.<\/p>\n

Collegiately, Jones played three seasons at Notre Dame<\/a> (2017-19) with 16 tackles (9 solos, 7 assists) and two tackles for loss in 35 games for the Fighting Irish.<\/p>\n

Then, he transferred to Toledo<\/a> (2020-21) with 116 tackles (34 solos, 82 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 19 games for the Rockets.
