Pistachios sold at a store in Brampton have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall<\/a> notice for Indian Punjabi Bazaar brand green pistachios, which were sold in 200g quantities at Indian Punjabi Bazaar, 499 Ray Lawson Blvd.<\/a>, Units 4 to 10. <\/p>\n Members of the public are being advised to \u201cnot consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute\u201d these recalled products, which have the UPC code 0 201540 307486 and were packed on Aug. 13.<\/p>\n According to the government agency, the nuts were distributed in Ontario.<\/p>\n The CFIA said this recall is connected to an ongoing investigation<\/a> into a foodborne illness outbreak and is urging consumers to refer to the Food Safety Investigation<\/a> page for further details as well as related recall notifications and food recall warnings. <\/p>\n The Public Health Agency of Canada is actively investigating an outbreak of human illness linked to this recall and may recall other products as a result.<\/p>\n Anyone who believes they became sick from consuming a recalled product should contact their healthcare provider, check to see if you have recalled products, not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute them, and either throw out or returned them to the location where they were purchased.<\/p>\n \u201cFood contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,\u201d the agency said, noting young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract \u201cserious and sometimes deadly infections\u201d from recalled products.<\/p>\n Healthy people, meanwhile, may have short-term symptoms like fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, said the CFIA, adding that long-term complications could include severe arthritis.<\/p>\n
