Shippensburg University\u2019s women\u2019s soccer team fought hard in a 0-1 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Sept. 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Raiders dominated offensively with 16 shots total and nine shots on goal. The ESU Warriors had half as many shots and only put three towards the goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Leading the SU offense was senior Ryleigh Cook with five shots total, three of which were on goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The only scoring of the game occurred in the second half and was from ESU sophomore Jade Wiley off an assist from sophomore Megan Cairns.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After ESU scored, the Raiders picked up momentum and fired seven of their nine shots on goal. However, they failed to score, and ESU secured their second shutout in a row.\u00a0<\/p>\n
SU also only had five fouls compared to the Warriors\u2019 13. The Raiders were awarded 12 corner kicks while ESU had two.<\/p>\n
In goal, redshirt junior Kirstin Brown earned two saves, and ESU\u2019s senior goalie Emmy Clarkson tallied nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The PSAC Eastern Division matchup places Shippensburg 0-3-2 within the conference and 1-3-2 overall.\u00a0<\/p>\n
SU currently sits in seventh place in the Eastern Division standings. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The Raiders have two upcoming PSAC East matches.
