{"id":181005,"date":"2025-09-30T21:53:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/181005\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T21:53:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T21:53:07","slug":"chael-sonnen-threatens-man-who-brutally-assaulted-former-rival-wanderlei-silva-in-viral-post-fight-brawl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/181005\/","title":{"rendered":"Chael Sonnen threatens man who brutally assaulted former rival Wanderlei Silva in viral post-fight brawl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen didn\u2019t hold back on the man who brutally assaulted Wanderlei Silva during a chaotic post-fight brawl.<\/p>\n<p>MMA legend Wanderlei Silva\u2019s exhibition boxing debut didn\u2019t go according to plan against Acelino Freitas, during and after the fight itself.<\/p>\n<p>Silva lost to Freitas by disqualification last weekend as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bjpenn.com\/boxing-news\/update-on-wanderlei-silvas-health-following-horrible-post-fight-knockout\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">49-year-old returned to combat sports<\/a> in Brazil. Just seconds after the fight was waved off, Silva, Freitas, and their teams engaged in a wild post-fight brawl that left several people injured, including Silva.<\/p>\n<p>Silva was brutally knocked out by a punch from Freitas\u2019s son, Rafael, during the chaotic incident. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bjpenn.com\/boxing-news\/man-who-knocked-out-wanderlei-silva-in-post-fight-brawl-explains-his-actions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafael has since claimed \u2018self-defense\u2019<\/a> after the clip went viral on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The incident prompted strong reactions from many of Silva\u2019s former rivals, including Chael Sonnen. But Sonnen, who shared a hostile rivalry with Silva during their MMA careers, took things a step further in his latest remarks.<\/p>\n<p>Chael Sonnen comes to heated rival Wanderlei Silva\u2019s defense after brutal incident<\/p>\n<p>In a recent post to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChaelSonnen\/status\/1972764866420343177\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">X<\/a>, Sonnen appeared to send a cryptic message to Acelino Freitas\u2019 son.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the coward that did THIS to Vanderlei, you f\u2014\u2013 up,\u201d Sonnen posted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly I am allowed to make him look a\u2019fool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave a Care, dummy. I\u2019ll see you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, neither Acelino nor Rafael have publicly responded to Sonnen\u2019s fiery rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>Silva and Sonnen fought once during their careers at Bellator NYC in 2017 with Sonnen earning a unanimous decision victory. They coached a season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil opposite each other, a season that included an infamous brawl on set between the two middleweights.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to 2025, Silva and Sonnen entered the UFC Hall of Fame separately during the latest induction.
