Seiya Suzuki is on an absolute tear.<\/p>\n

He’s so hot, in fact, that he accomplished something for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday that no player has ever done in MLB history.<\/p>\n

Here’s the context: Suzuki homered in his last four games of the regular season.<\/p>\n

Only three other times has a player entered the postseason on a four-game HR streak, according to MLB Network’s Sarah Langs<\/a>: Mike Schmidt in 1980, George Brett in 1985 and Ryan Howard in 2007.<\/p>\n

None of that trio homered in their first postseason game to continue the streak.<\/p>\n

Suzuki homered on Tuesday in the Cubs’ 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n

So he’s the first player to ever take a four-game homer streak into the playoffs and then homer in his first game of that postseason.<\/p>\n

Suzuki’s homer was crucial. It was the first of back-to-back blasts with Carson Kelly that sent Chicago on its way to a 3-1 win.<\/p>\n

The star outfielder was amazing in the first half of the season, but then he was very cold for most of the second half.<\/p>\n

But Suzuki has picked a great time to heat up again, and it gives the Cubs a chance to move on with one more win over the Padres.<\/p>\n
