After a year away from the championship series, the Las Vegas Aces<\/a> are back. <\/p>\n

The Aces took down the Indiana Fever<\/a> 107-98 in overtime of a tight winner-take-all Game 5 on Tuesday night to book their ticket to the WNBA Finals, where a matchup with the Phoenix Mercury awaits.<\/p>\n

As she’s done all season long, four-time MVP A’ja Wilson led the way for Las Vegas, finishing with 35 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four steals and four blocks. Microwave-scoring guard Jackie Young added 32 points and 10 assists.<\/p>\n

Despite Wilson’s two-way superstardom and a 13-point third quarter, her efforts alone wouldn\u2019t be enough. The Fever clawed back in the fourth, erasing a nine-point deficit to tie the game up in the final minute and force overtime.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leading the way for Indiana was Odyssey Sims, who the Fever signed on a hardship contract in August after being waived by the Los Angeles Sparks. She netted 27 points, including a floater with 22 seconds left to tie the game up 86 apiece.<\/p>\n

In OT, the Aces found some rhythm from range, with Jewell Loyd knocking down the first bucket of the extra frame from deep, then Chelsea Gray following suit on the next possession.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gray went on a tear in OT, hitting another triple a few possessions later then nailing a layup with a minute left to build up the Aces\u2019 lead to six for eight points in the frame. She finished with 17 points and six assists on the night. <\/p>\n

The Fever showed some serious heart, dealing with a slew of injuries. MVP finalist Kelsey Mitchell scored 15 points but was forced to exit the game in the third quarter after an apparent leg injury. They were already without Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson and superstar guard Caitlin Clark, and Aliyah Boston fouled out in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

With the win, the Aces will advance to their fourth final in six seasons. They won their last two appearances in 2022 and 2023, taking down the Connecticut Sun and New York Liberty, respectively.<\/p>\n

Game 1 of the WNBA Finals is set for Friday, Oct. 3, with the Aces hosting the first two matches of the seven-game series \u2014 the first in WNBA history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After a year away from the championship series, the Las Vegas Aces are back.
