That\u2019s the longest break \u201cPoatan\u201d has ever taken since arriving in the UFC in 2021, and he\u2019s feeling great because of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">In past interviews, Pereira has discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/ufc-news\/392331\/ufc-320-alex-pereira-says-he-performed-at-40-for-first-magomed-ankalaev-fight\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">being at 40%<\/a> in his first fight against \u201cBig Ank.\u201d Now he\u2019s rested and healed and promises a whole different level of performance in the UFC 320 rematch on October 4th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cI definitely felt different in that fight from basically any other fight,\u201d Pereira told ESPN through a translator. \u201cI don\u2019t wanna take any credit away from him. He maybe had his own stuff going on, so that\u2019s not something that that we wanna talk about too much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cBut I can compare it to how I feel now,\u201d he continued. \u201cI had a great training camp, stayed in the US, focused, and no more trips. I can compare it to this fight, and I feel amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Leading into his UFC 313 loss, there were a lot of fans worried that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/2025\/3\/12\/24383919\/after-ufc-313-loss-henry-cejudo-believes-alex-pereiras-lifestyle-is-finally-catching-up-to-him\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pereira\u2019s non-stop traveling<\/a> was affecting his training. He even made the trip to Australia for UFC 312 just to corner Sean Strickland and soak in the vibes. It all comes from a mindset of keeping busy, which we witnessed with his 11 fights over four years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cThat\u2019s how I\u2019ve always been, I\u2019ve always been nonstop,\u201d Pereira explained. \u201cEver since I was younger, I started working. I\u2019ve never been unemployed. I\u2019ve always been doing something. And I just felt like I needed to stay active. I needed to continue working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cBut it was a cumulative effect. A lot of things started adding up. My body started feeling it. I started aging. Maybe these seven months between these two fights was the best thing that I needed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Pereira comes into UFC 320 knowing exactly what he needs to do to defeat Ankalaev. In fact, he claims he knew the moment he left the cage back in March without his belt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cAs soon as I stepped out of the Octagon that night, I knew the mistakes that I made,\u201d Pereira said. \u201cI knew what I needed to correct. You know, honestly, there\u2019s not much to change. I just needed to heal my body.
