Homicide detectives are now confirming that missing 14-year-old Samuel Bird is presumed deceased, and his death is believed to be criminal in nature. <\/p>\n
Investigators are now releasing that Samuel was last seen on surveillance video at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 1, 2025, walking through the grounds of Holy Cross School near 151 Street and 104 Avenue, after which he attended the residence of a friend in the area of 150 Street and 106 Avenue, where he was last seen. Police conducted a search warrant at this residence in September.<\/p>\n
Investigators believe that the suspect or suspects involved in Samuel\u2019s disappearance may have disposed of his body no more than 150 km from Edmonton, and that this occurred within a short time of his disappearance on June 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe Samuel\u2019s body was disposed of on land, and that steps were taken to conceal the body to avoid detection,\u201d says primary investigator Det. Jared Buhler, with the EPS Homicide Section. \u201cWe are appealing to the public, and in particular, landowners, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who may frequent rural areas to be on the lookout for Samuel\u2019s remains.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police have conducted three searches using specialized personnel and canine resources, which were not initially made public for investigative reasons. Investigators continue to work to target a specific area where Samuel\u2019s remains may be located, and may conduct additional searches as required.<\/p>\n
