{"id":184761,"date":"2025-10-02T10:28:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T10:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/184761\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T10:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T10:28:08","slug":"calgary-flames-jonathan-huberdeau-departs-after-awkward-fall-into-net-in-pre-season-game-vs-canucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/184761\/","title":{"rendered":"Calgary Flames\u2019 Jonathan Huberdeau departs after awkward fall into net in pre-season game vs. Canucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/calgary-flames\/20\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/calgary-flames\/20\" target=\"_blank\">Calgary Flames<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jonathan-huberdeau\/8476456\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/jonathan-huberdeau\/8476456\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Huberdeau<\/a> left a pre-season tilt against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/vancouver-canucks\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury after crashing into the net.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Huberdeau was down on the ice for a few minutes before he was able to skate off under his own power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Flames head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-huska\/8459497\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-huska\/8459497\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Huska<\/a> did not have an update on his status after the game, but told TSN\u2019s Salim Valji that he liked Huberdeau\u2019s intent on the play and that he expects the same from everyone else on the team.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No updates from Huska on Pospisil or Huberdeau\u2026he did say he liked Huberdeau\u2019s intent on the play he got hurt\/others should do similar\u2026and he wasn\u2019t happy with the response after Devin Cooley got run earlier in the game. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Flames?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#Flames<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Salim Nadim Valji (@salimvalji) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/salimvalji\/status\/1973600745166610725?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 2, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Huberdeau crashed into Canucks goaltender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kevin-lankinen\/8480947\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/kevin-lankinen\/8480947\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Lankinen<\/a> while trying to corral a puck. He appeared to knock helmets with Lankinen before taking an awkward fall into the goalpost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The injury occurred after fellow Flames forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/martin-pospisil\/8481028\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/martin-pospisil\/8481028\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Pospisil<\/a> departed with an apparent injury earlier in the game. Huska did not have an update on Pospisil\u2019s status either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Huberdeau, 32, scored 28 goals and finished with 62 points last year with the Flames, his third in Calgary.
