NORMAL, Ill. \u2013 After opening the fall slate on clay courts in River Forest, the Illinois State men’s tennis team will host Northern Illinois, Marquette and IU Indy this weekend for the annual Redbird Invitational at the Gregory Street Courts in Normal.<\/p>\n
Action Friday will begin at 10 a.m. with one round of doubles to be played in the morning, followed by two rounds of singles action. Things will wrap on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., with two rounds of doubles followed by the final round of singles. Admission is free to the event and matches will start as soon as courts are available with a small break for lunch each day.<\/p>\n
Three Redbirds won championship matches in their singles flights to cap off the first tournament of the fall season at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational. In Draw No. 1, Tomas Valencia<\/a> defeated Alessandro Hernandez (DU) 6-3, 6-0 to take home a title and in Draw No. 3, Christian Capacci<\/a> took down Jeremy Sieben (WU) 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 to bring home an individual title.
