{"id":186148,"date":"2025-10-02T23:46:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T23:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/186148\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T23:46:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T23:46:08","slug":"ceci-lee-the-new-face-of-hong-kong-cycling-at-national-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/186148\/","title":{"rendered":"Ceci Lee the new face of Hong Kong cycling at National Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The last time Ceci Lee Sze-wing competed at the National Games, she was able to mostly operate in the shadow of Hong Kong Olympian Sarah Lee Wai-sze \u2013 not any more.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Both women won gold in Shaanxi in 2021, but while the latter has retired, Ceci Lee is now an Olympian in her own right and will be the face of her city\u2019s cycling challenge on the road and track when the Games come to the Greater Bay Area next month.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Still, while admitting to finding the expectations surrounding her and the team surreal, Ceci Lee said she hoped to make the most of home advantage, with the track events taking place at the Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">And while initially upset, she said there was no lasting regret over the need to drop out of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Chile in three weeks\u2019 time.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe world championships are the biggest tournament every year after all, but when I rethink it, maybe the coach also thought that we couldn\u2019t have both,\u201d she said. \u201cEven if I go [to Chile], I may not have a chance or a medal.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The Hong Kong cycling squad pose for a photo.
