GRAND FORKS, N.D. \u2013 Senior Jake Skarperud<\/a> claimed an individual victory in the North Dakota State men’s golf dual against North Dakota on Thursday at the Grand Forks Country Club.
\n\u00a0
\nSkarperud (69-72\u2014141) added five birdies and eight pars to finish at an even par in the final round to hold his lead and win the event by two strokes over runner-up Nate Peyerl of North Dakota. This event marks Skarperud’s second win as a Bison.
\n\u00a0
\nCarter White<\/a> (80-67\u2014147) matched his career-low round of 67 to finish -5 in the second round.\u00a0 White, who played as an individual, fired six birdies and 11 holes at par to climb three slots and finish in a tie for ninth.
\n\u00a0
\nRylin Petry<\/a> (76-69\u2014145), Gabe Benson<\/a> (74-70\u2014144), and Andrew Ballou<\/a> (79-71\u2014150) all carded rounds below par to wrap up scoring for the Bison. Petry fired six birdies and nine holes at par to finish -3 on the day and +1 overall in a tie for sixth. Benson notched three birdies and 14 holes at par to finish -2 in the final round and landed in a tie for third at an even-par. Ballou recorded three birdies and the lone NDSU eagle of the event to finish -1 on the day at +6 overall in 12th.

\nFreshman Joey Mackinac<\/a> (80-73\u2014153) finished +1 in the final round with four birdies to end in 13th at +9. Max Wilson<\/a> (80-76\u2014156) and Carter Spalding<\/a> (80-76\u2014156) held matching scorecards once again, both finishing +4 on the day and in a tie for 14th at +12 overall. Mackinac and Spalding both competed as individuals at the event.

\nAs a team, the Bison (298-282\u2014580) tied their second lowest round for the season at -6. The Bison fell to rival North Dakota (298-277\u2014575) by five strokes.

\nNDSU will return to action in one week at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
