<\/a>\n <\/p>\nMax Verstappen has opened his Singapore Grand Prix weekend with a third place in the opening Friday practice session. Fernando Alonso was quickest around the Marina Bay Street Circuit in his Aston Martin, followed by Ferrari\u2019s Charles Leclerc. Max\u2019s Oracle Red Bull Racing teammate Yuki Tsunoda finished in ninth.<\/p>\n
Liam Lawson is the first driver to take to the track and does so on the hard Pirelli tyres. Soon after, Max clocks his first flying lap, also on the hard compound. Meanwhile, there is smoke in the pitlane after Alex Albon\u2019s brakes have gone on fire. After extinguishing the flames, the car is returned to the Williams garage where the team conclude Albon\u2019s session is over.<\/p>\n
As the lap times tumble, Max stays among the front runners with Alonso and Lando Norris (McLaren) toping the leaderboards on the hard tyres.<\/p>\n
With fifteen minutes to go, Max heads out on the softs and improves to second, a tenth of the pace setter Leclerc. Soon after, Alonso usurps the Monegasque to set the quickest time of the session. Lance Stroll is the first driver to clock a time on the red side walled softs. Leclerc is the first to set a competitive time at the sharp end.<\/p>\n
