AUBURN, Ala. \u2013 The Troy men’s tennis team kicked off its weekend at the Auburn Battle on the Plains and the Mercer Gridiron Classic on Friday. Yeray Andres Pastor<\/a> earned his 100th career win on the day, as the Trojans saw success in both tournaments.

\nIn Auburn, Ala., the duo of Andres Pastor and Luciano Alcocer<\/a> ran past a team from North Alabama to remain on the winner’s side of the bracket. The Trojans won their doubles match 6-2 before Andres Pastor dismantled his singles opponent 6-3, 6-0 to secure the win \u2013 he became the 12th player in Troy’s DI history to hit the century mark.

\nAlthough Alcocer lost his singles match, the duo moved on to face Mercer in the next round. The Trojans secured a 7-6 (7-2) victory in their doubles match against the Bears and will play the singles matches on Saturday morning to determine who advances. In the doubles match, Troy weathered three match points down 5-4 to snatch the win.

\nHiiro Sakamoto<\/a> and Ausias Martin Melo<\/a> fell to Ole Miss duo Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn in the first round. The pair dropped their doubles match 6-2, but Martin Melo bounced back from an opening-set loss to take down Milburn 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Martin Melo earned his first collegiate win in the match.

\nThe Trojans duo squared off against UAB in the back draw. The Blazers won the doubles match 7-5, and the Trojans will try to take the victory in singles play Saturday morning.

\nMeanwhile in Macon, Ga., the Trojans kicked off the day with doubles action. Louis Boilevin<\/a>, Stephan Tavares Noale<\/a>, Henrique de Brito<\/a> and Thiago Drozdowski<\/a> battled in various draws.

\nTo start the day, Noale and de Brito took down a Sun Belt Conference team in doubles play, besting Georgia State’s Yuva Pavuluri and Sota Minami 6-2. The duo played another match against Jacksonville State but fell in a close 6-4 battle.

\nDrozdowski and Boilevin also dropped a match to the Gamecocks, as the pair fell 6-4 in their opening match against Charlie Penman and Alin Fatu. The duo lost their second match of the day, falling 6-4 to a pairing from Presbyterian.

\nIn singles play, Drozdowski led the way with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win in flight C1. The other Trojans dropped their first-round singles matches, but Boilevin took his opponent down to the wire in a 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6) loss.

\nPlay at the Mercer Gridiron Classic will continue on Saturday.
