men&#8217;s soccer program history.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the Patriots defeated the Revolutionaries, 5-2 on Sept. 28, 2024 at George Mason Stadium in the 50th meeting between the two programs.\u00a0 Forward\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/marek-gonda\/8680\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marek Gonda<\/a>\u00a0and midfielder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/quentin-clain\/8773\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Quentin Clain<\/a>\u00a0each scored two goals.\u00a0 The Patriots outshot the Revolutionaries, 27-7, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal.\u00a0 George Mason had 10 corner kicks and George Washington finished with three corner kicks in the match.\u00a0 The 27 shots and 10 shots on goal were both season highs for the Patriots.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots are 12-10-1 at home, 14-8-2 on the road and 2-0-1 in games played at a neutral site all-time against George Washington.\u00a0 George Mason has faced William &amp; Costanzo<\/a>\u00a0is in his fourth season with the Patriots and is two wins shy of 25 with the Patriots.\u00a0 He was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year last season after leading the Patriots to one of the most successful regular seasons in program history.\u00a0 Costanzo guided the club to the Atlantic 10 regular season title for the first time in program history in 2024.\u00a0 The Patriots finished the season 13-4-1 overall, won seven of eight matches at home in the regular season, went 6-1-1 in conference play to post six wins in the A-10 regular season for the first time, and after earning the top-seed in the A-10 Championship, advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br 2-2-1 at home and 0-4-1 on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Last time out, George Washington fell at St. Bonaventure, 2-1 (Sept. 27) in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.\u00a0 The Bonnies outshot the Revolutionaries 13-12 including a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT THE PATRIOTS<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots have 14 returners and 13 newcomers on the roster heading into the 2025 season under fourth-year head Godinho<\/a>\u00a0(Lisbon, Portugal).<\/p>\n<p>PATRIOTS SCHEDULE<\/p>\n<p>The George Mason is scheduled to play 15 regular season games, a slate that includes four matches against College Cup teams, eight matches against Atlantic 10 opponents and eight games at George Mason Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Head coach\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/coaches\/rich-costanzo\/1609\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rich Costanzo<\/a>\u00a0begins his fourth season.\u00a0 He guided the Patriots to a 13-4-1 overall record last season and a 6-1-1 mark in conference play to claim the first-ever Atlantic 10 Regular Season title in program history.\u00a0 George Mason recorded six A-10 wins in the regular season for the first time since joining the league in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>In the regular season, George Mason will play two matches in August, six in September and October and one in November.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots played a pair of exhibition matches, facing Maryland on the road (Aug. 9,) and Pittsburgh at George Mason Stadium (Aug. 15).<\/p>\n<p>The Green and Gold kicked off the regular season on the road and fell to #2 Marshall (Aug. 22), 2-1, in Huntington, W.Va.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots defeated No. 11 Virginia (Aug. 28) in their home opener, 4-1. George Mason sophomore forward\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/martim-sereno\/9088\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martim Sereno<\/a>\u00a0scored twice for his first career two-goal game, while junior midfielder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/james-eliuda\/9094\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/james-eliuda\/9094\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"9094\" target=\"_blank\">James Eliuda<\/a><\/a>\u00a0netted his first goal of the season and graduate student midfielder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/jacobo-sanfeliu\/9417\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacobo Sanfeliu<\/a>\u00a0scored his first goal as a Patriot.<\/p>\n<p>The victory marked the highest-ranked win by the Patriots in 14 years and the second-highest seeded team that George Mason has beaten since they took down No. 2 Maryland on September 29, 2009.\u00a0 The win is the seventh win over a top-20 team in program history.\u00a0 The crowd of 3,077 marked the largest for a George Mason men&#8217;s soccer match in 25 years.\u00a0 The 1,385 students in attendance set a new program record.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots defeated Bucknell (Sept. 2) 3-2.\u00a0 Junior midfielder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/brent-fields\/9095\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brent Fields<\/a>\u00a0scored his first career goal, the game-winner in the 90th minute of play.\u00a0 Sophomore midfielder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/martim-sereno\/9088\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Martim Sereno<\/a>\u00a0scored his third goal, while graduate student\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gomason.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\/roster\/jacobo-sanfeliu\/9417\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacobo Sanfeliu<\/a>\u00a0tallied his second goal of the season.<\/p>\n<p>George Mason fell to No. 6 West Virginia, 6-4 (Sept. 7.)
