INDIANAPOLIS, IN \u2013 The UIndy women’s tennis team is set to compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championship this weekend, with matches beginning this Saturday, Oct. 4, in Grand Rapids, Mich.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Greyhounds head into the event with a longstanding tradition of success in this event, capturing a Regional Championship in either singles or doubles for ten consecutive seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
UIndy commenced their season with the UIndy Fall Tournament, an individual-based, hidden dual format against crosstown opponents Butler, IU Indianapolis, and Marian.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Hounds return five players from the team\u00a0last season, while welcoming six newcomers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Headlining the returners are 2025 All-GLVC First Teamers <\/a>Jimena De Pablos Hernando<\/a> and Sofia Cardenas<\/a>. De Pablos Hernando amassed a strong 14-1 clip in singles, with an 11-5 record in doubles. Cardenas collected an 8-3 mark in singles, and a 8-6 record in doubles. Cardenas and De Pablos Hernando went 3-0 as a doubles team at the season opener just two weeks ago.<\/p>\n Newcomers that stood out from the Fall Tournament were Liza Simak<\/a> and Magda Kornijczuk<\/a>. Simak posted a 3-0 mark in singles play, while Kornijczuk held a 2-1 record in both singles and doubles.\u00a0<\/p>\n The first slate of singles matches on Saturday will begin at 8 AM on the campus of Davenport University.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
