{"id":189606,"date":"2025-10-04T14:15:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-04T14:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/189606\/"},"modified":"2025-10-04T14:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-04T14:15:08","slug":"coco-gauff-confirms-if-shell-ever-return-to-the-china-open-after-being-dominated-by-amanda-anisimova","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/189606\/","title":{"rendered":"Coco Gauff confirms if she\u2019ll ever return to the China Open after being dominated by Amanda Anisimova"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Coco Gauff\u2019s China Open campaign ended in a heavy defeat to US compatriot Amanda Anisimova. <\/p>\n<p>In the semifinals of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA<\/a> 1000 event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/amanda-anisimova-reacts-for-the-first-time-after-crushing-coco-gauff-and-knocking-her-out-in-china\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff lost to Anisimova<\/a> in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, with the US Open finalist reaching her second consecutive tour-level final. <\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old struggled with her serve once again, tallying five double faults and a first-serve win percentage of 38%. <\/p>\n<p>It was a tough match for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff<\/a>, who had high praise for her conqueror after bowing out of the tournament. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2238707254-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Coco Gauff reacts during the semifinals of the China Open.\" \/>Photo by GREG BAKER\/AFP via Getty ImagesCoco Gauff reacts to her heavy defeat to Amanda Anisimova<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe played well,\u201d said the two-time Grand Slam champion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/amanda-anisimova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anisimova<\/a> in her post-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like I couldn\u2019t really have a chance of getting a rhythm out there. But a learning experience for the next time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, she\u2019s definitely one of the best out of those I\u2019ve played. Yeah, for sure, she and Aryna [Sabalenka] are tough when they\u2019re playing that level of tennis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like today, no matter what I did, I just couldn\u2019t get into the match. So yeah, I\u2019m going to take this and learn from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if she will return to the China Open in the future, Gauff replied: \u201cYeah, for sure. If I\u2019m not injured, I\u2019ll definitely come back. I\u2019ve had and have had great times here. Obviously, today wasn\u2019t my day. I had a great time here on and off the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt pretty good going out there today. I don\u2019t know, I was practicing great. I just went on court, and she completely took over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo yeah, I think there\u2019s a lot of learning experiences. I know what I need to do against players like her in the future.
