ELON \u2013 The Elon University women’s tennis team racked up 11 victories to close out the Elon Fall Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Junior Alexis Nyborg<\/a> won the singles competition with 16 points after going 3-0 in the event. She outlasted VCU’s Amelie Brozova 6-7 (4), 7-6 (1), 10-3 on Saturday to cap off her perfect weekend in singles. Nyborg is still unbeaten this fall in singles with a 6-0 record.<\/p>\n Elon’s duo of Cornelia Kack<\/a> and Lisa Kranec<\/a> took home the win in the doubles competition with nine points following a 3-0 weekend together. They won a pair of matches Saturday to secure the victory in the doubles event.<\/p>\n Helen Sarikulaya<\/a> and Nyborg teamed up for the first time in doubles this fall Saturday, winning their match 8-6. The Phoenix won five of eight doubles contests on the day.<\/p>\n Joining Nyborg at with a 6-0 singles record this fall were Cornelia Kack<\/a> and Helen Sarikulaya<\/a>, both of whom won in straight sets Saturday. Sarikulaya is the lone Phoenix this fall that is yet to drop a set in singles.<\/p>\n Mariana Reding<\/a>, Madison Cordisco<\/a> and Lisa Kranec<\/a> also added singles victories Saturday to cap off the tournament. Cordisco came through a match tiebreak after losing the first set of her match in a tiebreak.<\/p>\n In total, the Phoenix won 27 matches this weekend, with 18 singles victories and nine doubles triumphs.
