{"id":190645,"date":"2025-10-05T03:11:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T03:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/190645\/"},"modified":"2025-10-05T03:11:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T03:11:12","slug":"panthers-have-goal-revoked-vs-lightning-for-having-ejected-player-on-ice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/190645\/","title":{"rendered":"Panthers have goal revoked vs. Lightning for having ejected player on ice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday&#8217;s game between the Florida Panthers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/tampa-bay-lightning\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"tampa-bay-lightning\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> might have just had it all.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 penalty minutes, 13 ejections, a hat trick, a shutout and a goal taken away retroactively.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right, thanks to the Florida-based clubs turning the contest into something that might have fit on Saturday&#8217;s card at UFC 320, the Panthers lost out on Jesper Boqvist&#8217;s third-period tally.<\/p>\n<p>When Boqvist scored Florida&#8217;s eighth goal of the night, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/players\/niko-mikkola\/65071e7e-2846-4203-8be0-b5ef38b20a5f\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"65071e7e-2846-4203-8be0-b5ef38b20a5f\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Niko Mikkola<\/a> was on the ice and collected an assist on the play. The only problem? Mikkola had been handed a game misconduct earlier in the game.<\/p>\n<p>So, when it was discovered that Mikkola\u00a0wasn&#8217;t supposed to be in the game anymore, the officials convened and informed the teams that the point was coming off the board and Florida would receive a penalty.<\/p>\n<p>Mikkola was handed his misconduct at 4:01 of the third period.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers ultimately won the game 7-0 in the final pre-season tilt for both sides. Perhaps the most intense rivalry in the NHL right now, even exhibition games can&#8217;t keep the Lightning and Panthers from parading into the penalty box. <\/p>\n<p>The division rivals are set to play four times this season, with the first matchup scheduled for Nov. 15. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Saturday&#8217;s game between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning might have just had it all.
