After winning back his UFC light heavyweight belt from Magomed Ankalaev<\/a>, Alex Pereira’s mind was on a different light heavyweight champion.<\/p>\n

The two-time title-holder used his post-fight interview to call for a moment of silence in honor of Arthur Jones, the older brother of UFC legend Jon Jones who died suddenly earlier this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I had a whole speech prepared tonight,” Pereira said. “I talked to my team over it, but we got some news recently. Something’s happened, so I want to give my respect to Jon Jones and his whole family, and I want to ask everyone here and everyone at home to take a moment of silence for his brother.”<\/p>\n

The crowd at T-Mobile Arena obliged.<\/p>\n

Jon appreciated the gesture.<\/p>\n

The elder Jones died Friday morning and the circumstances around his death remain unclear, though Syracuse.com reported Saturday<\/a> that rescue crews were called to his home after his defibrillator went off and no one answered the phone.<\/p>\n

Arthur played in the NFL for seven years and is most remembered for his time with the Baltimore Ravens. He was a key member of the team’s defensive line during its Super Bowl XLVII run in the 2012-13 season, posting 47 tackles, five tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks from the interior line.<\/p>\n
