You better fight like hell. Don\u2019t roll over and keep fighting,\u201d Ford said during a rally in front of the Stellantis Assembly Plant in Brampton on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/world\/trumps-tariffs\/article\/carney-to-meet-trump-next-week-movement-on-steel-and-aluminum-tariffs-expected\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carney is set to travel to the U.S.<\/a> capital for a \u201cworking visit and meeting\u201d with President Trump, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe Prime Minister\u2019s working visit will focus on shared priorities in a new economic and security relationship between Canada and the U.S.,\u201d according to the PMO. Carney will be joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand, Industry Minister Melanie Joly and Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Sources told CTV News earlier this week that there could be a potential movement expected on steel and aluminum tariffs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">During Saturday\u2019s rally, a fired-up Ford reiterated that Canada will never be the 51st state. On Tuesday, speaking to U.S. senior military leaders, Trump revived the 51st state rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to keep fighting like we\u2019ve never fought before,\u201d Ford said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI will send the message down to the U.S. very clearly. If I have to get on CNN every day or Fox News or ABC, NBC, I will continue sending that message that Canada is the greatest place in the entire world, the best, the smartest, the strongest workers anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ford to Stellantis CEO: Open the Brampton plant<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Saturday\u2019s \u201cProtect Canadian Jobs\u201d rally was organized by Unifor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ford urged the CEO of Stellantis to \u201copen the damn plant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe need to get our workers back in that plant,\u201d the premier said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Work at the assembly plant, where the next generation of the Jeep Compass was scheduled to go into production later this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/article\/stellantis-pauses-work-on-jeep-compass-leaving-future-of-brampton-plant-up-in-the-air\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was paused in February<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">At that time, Stellantis said in a statement, \u201cAs we navigate today\u2019s dynamic environment, Stellantis continues to reassess its product strategy in North America to ensure it is offering customers a range of vehicles with flexible powertrain options to best meet their needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The company noted in their February statement that the pause would not change previously announced investment plans for Brampton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe signed a deal with Stellantis that made sure the number one concern, part of that deal, it\u2019s in writing, signed off, that they keep the Brampton plant open. We made sure we did that.
