Alex Pereira became a two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion at UFC 320<\/a> last night (Sat., Oct. 4, 2025) after running through Magomed Ankalaev in less than two minutes inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights<\/a>).<\/p>\n

And according to UFC CEO Dana White, Pereira has already made his intentions clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo today, I was at work and I went over to the PI, and [Pereira] was over in the PI, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, you\u2019re the last guy I expected to see here today. What are you doing here?\u2019\u201d White said during the UFC 320 post-fight press conference. \u201cAnd they\u2019re telling me, \u2018We want to fight at Heavyweight.\u2019 I said, \u2018How about we win tonight and focus on tonight, and then we could talk about Heavyweight.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, I don\u2019t know about that,\u201d White said. \u201cThere\u2019s still fights here in this division, but we\u2019ll see. I mean, this guy has been an absolute stud for us\u2026He was a middleweight<\/a>, and he\u2019s going to jump up two weight classes in the UFC. It\u2019s not like jumping up two weight classes in boxing. It\u2019s a big jump.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not that I have any reservations about it,\u201d White added. \u201cI mean, the guy is in a division that there are still some interesting fights. I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s just that I like the guy so much. We\u2019ll see. We\u2019ll have to talk about it. I just don\u2019t see why, unless he wants to retire. Why throwing him in at Heavyweight makes any sense, other than I just end up saying, \u2018he wants to do it so bad, I\u2019ll just say yes,\u2019 I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

While a clear contender at Light Heavyweight exists in Carlos Ulberg, Pereira, now 38, seems eager to keep chasing history rather than defending what he\u2019s already conquered.<\/p>\n

Either way, \u201cPoatan\u201d isn\u2019t slowing down \u2014 and a move to Heavyweight might just be next.<\/p>\n
