Two people have been arrested following a distraction theft and robbery that left an elderly man injured outside a Scarborough shopping plaza, Toronto police say. <\/p>\n
In a news release<\/a>, officials say they responded to a call for an assault at around 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue<\/a>, near Eglinton Square Shopping Centre. <\/p>\n Investigators allege one of the suspects approached the victim while he was in his vehicle, offering him money and a watch. <\/p>\n \u201cWhen the victim declined, the accused removed the victims Rolex watch causing injuries to his arm and hand,\u201d officials wrote.<\/p>\n It\u2019s alleged that the man then fled in a dark-coloured van.<\/p>\n As a result, police arrested 39-year-old Ion Stan, of no fixed address, and Armeanca Fardi, 25, of Toronto.<\/p>\n Stan is charged with robbery and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance. Fardi faces robbery, several counts of failing to comply with a release order, and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.<\/p>\n Police say both suspects appeared in court on Oct. 4.
