<\/p>\n CALGARY \u2013 The University of Calgary Dinos men’s soccer team ended a three-game losing skid with a 1-1 draw against the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Sunday\u00a0at McMahon Stadium.<\/p>\n The match also served as Seniors’ Day, with the Dinos recognizing 11 graduating players for their contributions to the program.<\/p>\n “It’s a tough break, but I’m proud of my boys,” said Calgary head coach Ramon Mifflin<\/a>. “They are the heart and soul of the group, a phenomenal group of players who will be sorely missed. I’m proud of what they’ve done for the program. Their legacy will be an important one.”<\/p>\n Lethbridge opened the scoring early as Will Hughes fired a free kick over the Dinos’ wall and past goalkeeper Hany Shafie<\/a> in the fifth minute. The Pronghorns nearly doubled their lead soon after, but Shafie came up with a key stop on Kai Sakaguchi to keep it a one-goal game.<\/p>\n Calgary pressed for an equalizer throughout the first half and found it in the 36th minute. Off a corner from Owen Antoniuk<\/a>, the ball bounced inside the box before a Lethbridge defender’s clearance popped straight up. It fell to Dinos’ senior defender Milan Ponjevic<\/a>, who headed it home to level the match at 1-1.<\/p>\n The Dinos continued to push in the second half, generating several quality chances and outshooting the Pronghorns 15-2, but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Lethbridge’s back line held firm under sustained pressure, while Calgary’s defence contained the Pronghorns’ limited counterattacks.<\/p>\n A late red card left the visitors down a player for the final 13 minutes, but Calgary couldn’t capitalize despite controlling possession and shots on goal.<\/p>\n “We’ll keep training and working on the things we know we do well,” Mifflin said. “We just need to get healthy. That’s the most important thing.”<\/p>\n With the result, Calgary moves to 7-5-1, while Lethbridge goes to 4-3-3.<\/p>\n The Dinos now have a week off before facing the Mount Royal Cougars on Oct. 18.
