A 31-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a stabbing on a transit bus in Brampton has been arrested.<\/p>\n
The incident happened on Oct. 1. <\/p>\n
Peel Regional Police say at about 9:30 p.m. that day two males got into a fight aboard a bus near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive.<\/p>\n
They say a man in his 20s was approached by another man he did not know and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect then started to attack the victim with an edged weapon, police say.<\/p>\n
The victim was stabbed multiple times and sustained serious injuries, which were not life-threatening, they added.<\/p>\n
The suspect, meanwhile, fled the area on foot. <\/p>\n
Following a \u201ccontinuous\u201d investigation, Harpreet Singh, 31, of Brampton, was identified as the suspect. <\/p>\n
On Oct. 4, he was arrested and charged with attempt murder. aggravated assault. assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and breach of court order. He was held pending a bail hearing in Brampton. <\/p>\n
\u201cAt the time of the offence, the accused was out on bail for unrelated charges,\u201d police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigators are advising the public that the accused acted alone and that there are no further public safety concerns in relation to this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
