{"id":193099,"date":"2025-10-06T12:51:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T12:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/193099\/"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:51:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T12:51:16","slug":"auger-aliassime-to-meet-musetti-in-shanghai-tennis-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/193099\/","title":{"rendered":"Auger-Aliassime to Meet Musetti in Shanghai \u2013 Tennis Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Richard Pagliaro | Monday, October 6, 2025<br \/>Photo credit: Sarah Stier\/Getty<\/p>\n<p>Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti came through tight tests in Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p>The pair will face off in the Rolex Shanghai Masters round of 16.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennisexpress.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-lazyloaded=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"610\" height=\"130\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Black-October-610x130-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56782\"  data-\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>US Open semifinalist Auger-Aliassime won 30 of 39 first-serve points defeating Dutchman Jesper de Jong 6-4, 7-5.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian cracked seven aces and saved three of four break points in a one hour, 40-minute victory.<\/p>\n<p>Auger-Aliassime has won 10 of his last 12 matches since the start of Cincinnati with his lone losses coming to No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the Cincinnati quarterfinals and US Open semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Next up for Auger-Aliassime is a showdown with Lorenzo Musetti with a quarterfinal spot on the line.<\/p>\n<p>The eighth-seeded Musetti squeezed out a 7-5, 7-6(1) win over 26th seed Luciano Darderi in an all-Italian clash.<\/p>\n<p>Musetti hit 11 aces against two double faults and denied six of eight break points.
