{"id":19381,"date":"2025-07-24T01:41:06","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T01:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/19381\/"},"modified":"2025-07-24T01:41:06","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T01:41:06","slug":"the-undertone-trailer-plunges-podcaster-into-paranormal-nightmare-ahead-of-fantasia-premiere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/19381\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Undertone&#8217; Trailer Plunges Podcaster into Paranormal Nightmare Ahead of Fantasia Premiere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Slaterverse Pictures and Black Fawn Films have unveiled the atmospheric new trailer and theatrical poster for The Undertone ahead of its sold-out world premiere at <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/tag\/fantasia-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fantasia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nina Kiri (The Handmaid\u2019s Tale, Fingernails), Mich\u00e8le Duquet (The Virgin Suicides, Goosebumps), and Kris Holden-Ried (Underworld: Awakening, The Umbrella Academy) star.<\/p>\n<p>The Undertone follows the host of an \u2018all-things-creepy\u2019 podcast who moves into her dying mother\u2019s house to be her primary caregiver. When she receives audio recordings of a young pregnant couple experiencing paranormal noises, she realizes the woman\u2019s story mirrors her own. Each new recording scratches at her sanity, drawing her into a fate she cannot escape.<\/p>\n<p>The new horror movie marks the feature film debut of writer\/director Ian Tuason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think what makes this movie powerful, beyond its elements of horror, is the deep and vulnerable place it came from,\u201d explains star Nina Kiri. \u201cIt takes a lot of courage to write something based on a painful and terrifying experience. Ian\u2019s openness, combined with the entire crew\u2019s receptivity, created not only an amazing experience for me, but also an important and compelling story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis film was born from the grief and love I carried for my mom in her final days,\u201c explains Tuason. \u201cTo return home to Montreal where I was born and world premiere this film for Fantasia audiences \u2013 it feels like things have come full circle in the most magical way.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>The Undertone is produced by Dan Slater and Cody Calahan and is executive produced by Chad Archibald, Daril Fannin, Brit MacRae, Anthony Eu, Douglas Lee, Al Akdari, Charles Bern, Matthew Sterling, David Sproat, and Ian Tuason.
