EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. \u2013 The Harvard men’s golf team wrapped up its run at the Hamptons Intercollegiate this afternoon, securing am eighth-place finish in the tournament. The Crimson had two players come inside the top 25 with Ieuan Jones<\/a> and William Ma<\/a> recording 16th and 24th place finishes at the prestigious Maidstone Club in the Hamptons. The team matched its best result at the tournament with the eighth-place finish after recording a number of impressive scores over the course of the two-day, three-round tournament.

\nHOW IT HAPPENED
\nFor the third consecutive year, the Harvard men’s golf team traveled to the Hamptons on Long Island to compete in the Hamptons Intercollegiate at the Maidstone Club, a Golf Digest Top 100 course in the United States. The prestigious track welcomed in some of the nation’s top golf teams to compete in a staked 2025 field of programs.

\nThe Crimson jumped out to hot start in the tournament, posting a team score of 288 (E) in the opening round to position itself in third place after 18 holes. The charge was led by William Ma’s<\/a> round of 70 (-2) and Barry Zhang’s<\/a> round of 71 (-1) in the first round of competition. Ieuan Jones<\/a> shot a 73 (+1) and Jonathan Hartono<\/a> shot a 74 (+2) to complete the team scoring for Harvard in the first.

\nJones began his rise up the leaderboard in the second round, posting a team-best round of 73 (+1). First-year, Morgan Riley<\/a>, roared back on the back-nine in his round, carding five birdies in a row to post a score of 74 (+2) and factor into the team scoring for the Crimson. Zhang pitched in a 75 (+3) and Ma added a round of 76 (+4) to give the Crimson a team score of 298 (+10) in the second round.

\nHarvard posted a team score of 300 (+12) in the final round of action to secure eight place in the field at the Hamptons Intercollegiate. Jones continued his steady play in the third round on Tuesday, carding three birdies to shoot a 71 (-1) and lead the team. The scores pushed Jones into the top-20 in the field where he finished in 16th place. Ma, Riley and Zhang all factored into the team scoring with rounds of 74 (+2), 77 (+5) and 78 (+6), respectively. \u00a0

\nHarvard Highlights<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Crimson tied for the most pars in the tournament with 166.
\n\tIeuan Jones<\/a> had the highest finish on the team, coming in T16 with a tournament score of 217 (+1).
\n\tThe sophomore finished the tournament T6 in scoring average on par 4’s with a 4.03 (+1).
\n\tWilliam Ma<\/a> secured another top 25 finish on the season, coming in T24 with a tournament score of 220 (+4).
\n\tMorgan Riley<\/a> posted a run of five-straight birdies in the second round.
\n\tBarry Zahng tied for the second most pars in the field with 38.
