Immediately after the submission<\/a>, Pyfer was seen screaming through the cage. And today (Tues., Oct. 7, 2025), \u201cBodybagz\u201d revealed that his fiery words were aimed at UFC matchmaker, Mick Maynard, for doubting him<\/p>\n That\u2019s because last week during UFC 320 media day (rewatch it here<\/a>), Pyfer told reporters that, \u201csomeone in the UFC<\/a>\u201d accused him of being \u201cscared<\/a>\u201d to fight Magomedov. That verbal jab motivated him to accept the 185-pound bout after his win over<\/a> Kelvin Gastelum earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI got offered Abus before I fought Kelvin, and I said \u2018no\u2019 because he was behind me in the rankings and I wanted to move forward,\u201d Pyfer explained to Ariel Helwani today. \u201cI was out for awhile after back surgery, so Mick was mad at me \u2026 and for good reason.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was like, \u2018Dude, you f\u2014king don\u2019t want to take the fight, and I\u2019m offering you a fight,\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201c\u2018Like, if you don\u2019t take it, then you\u2019ll just kind of have to wait.\u2019 And so I was like, \u2018Okay, then I\u2019ll wait.\u2019 I just [didn\u2019t] like the matchup coming off back surgery, and that\u2019s fine\u2026. I also didn\u2019t like the narrative that I was afraid to fight him.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, after I won, I was screaming at Mick that he was wrong, and I\u2019m not scared of shit, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,\u201d Pyfer continued. \u201cIt was kind of a \u2018told you so\u2019 type of way. It definitely could have come out the wrong way.<\/p>\n \u201cI was a little butthurt toward Mick because I don\u2019t like people thinking I\u2019m scared,\u201d Pyfer added. \u201cI was never really that mad about it. Obviously, it bothered me a little bit. Because, again, I\u2019m not afraid of anybody, and if it makes sense, I\u2019ll fight anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
