The 2026 nominees for the International Tennis Hall of Fame have been confirmed, with Roger Federer and Juan Martin del Potro making the cut.<\/p>\n

Federer is playing tennis regularly<\/a> after his retirement in 2022, having won 20 Grand Slam titles during his stunning professional career.<\/p>\n

He won 103 ATP<\/a> titles in total and reached number one in the world rankings, while fellow legend Del Potro<\/a> reached as high as number three.<\/p>\n

The Argentine won 22 ATP titles during his fantastic career, including the 2009 US Open, where he beat Federer in the final.<\/p>\n

Del Potro also reached the final of the hard-court Grand Slam in 2018, but lost out to Novak Djokovic in New York.<\/p>\n

But his nomination for the International Tennis Hall of Fame has drawn criticism from former world number 21 and four-time ATP champion Steve Johnson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Discussing if Del Potro should be included, Johnson said on the Nothing Major Show: \u201cI don\u2019t think so. He has got one Slam. He was never number one in the world. The longevity was not there.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be in the Hall of Fame you better be one of the best in the world of all time and I just don\u2019t think he had long enough success.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot taking anything away from his career but to be in the Hall of Fame, you better be pretty damn good and have a long, successful career. I just don\u2019t think he did it long enough and only one Slam should not get you in I don\u2019t think.\u201d<\/p>\n

Juan Martin del Potro\u2019s career stats after tennis Hall of Fame nomination<\/p>\n

Federer\u2019s inclusion alongside Del Potro certainly does the Argentine no favours, with the Swiss icon representing one of the greatest tennis players ever.<\/p>\n

Federer knows his five greatest players<\/a>, but he undoubtedly deserves a spot on that list after his remarkable career.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Del Potro finished his career happy<\/a> at the end of last year with a 439-174 win-loss record, while his feats also include two Olympic medals.<\/p>\n
