It’s been over two decades since Rose Byrne<\/a> first traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and she’s ready for a return visit.\n<\/p>\n

“I mean, to be even a microscopic piece of the [Star Wars<\/a>] universe is so sweet, how you just resonate, and you’re still are part of this dialogue, this chain of characters in this film, this universe that resonates with people,” Bryne shared on Monday’s episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

Dedicated Star Wars heads could never forget Byrne’s small part in the second installment in the prequel trilogy, Attack of the Clones<\/a>. But Dorm\u00e9, a handmaid to Natalie Portman<\/a>‘s Queen-turned-Senator Padm\u00e9 Amidala, utters only “about one or two lines,” per Byrne, before she disappears.\n<\/p>\n

Still, the 46-year-old Australian star described being part of the extended Star Wars family as “so wonderful, I’ve grown to love it,” and proclaimed that she’s “ready” to return any time. “I’m ready! No one’s called. Maybe after this, they will.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Dorm\u00e9 appears in only two brief scenes in Attack of the Clones, both after Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen<\/a>) escorts Padm\u00e9 to Naboo after a pair of thwarted assassination attempts.\n<\/p>\n

Padm\u00e9 tells the ship captain to “take good care of Dorm\u00e9,” touching Byrne’s character on the wrist and explaining, “the threat’s on you two now.” Dorm\u00e9 wryly responds, “He’ll be safe with me,” but her smile quickly melts into stoic tears, betraying her fear for her mistress. Dorm\u00e9 then rebuffs Padm\u00e9’s own fears for her, stating, “It’s not me my lady, I worry about you.”\n<\/p>\n

Among her limited smattering of lines, Byrne said she favors her emotional exchange with Portman’s Padm\u00e9: “The first one I feel is more resonant. It’s a fraught situation. I’m establishing there’s a situation, and it’s fraught, and my feelings about it, and her feelings about it.”\n<\/p>\n

It’s been six years since the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the last feature film in the sprawling space opera franchise. Last November, Dark Phoenix\u00a0director\u00a0Simon Kinberg was announced as the director of an as-yet\u00a0untitled trilogy<\/a>\u00a0of new films set outside of the Skywalker Saga.\n<\/p>\n

In April, another new Star Wars film was announced: Starfighter, a brand new vision from Deadpool & Wolverine\u00a0director\u00a0Shawn Levy and star Ryan Gosling, slated for release on May 28, 2027.\n<\/p>\n

It isn’t yet clear if Dorm\u00e9, Padm\u00e9, or any characters from previous installments in Star Wars film series will be returning for Kinberg’s trilogy or Levy’s film.\n<\/p>\n

Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Lee, and Anthony Daniels, all of whom played major roles in the early aughts prequel films, returned to voice their characters in 2008’s animated The Clone Wars. Dorm\u00e9 was a bit less essential, but there’s precedent for that, too. Joel Edgerton, who played the minor character of Owen Lars in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, reprised the role in a much more substantial way for 2022’s Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
