He then attended Lucknow University to study statistics for his undergraduate degree.

Next, he completed his MBA from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Maharashtra.

Nitin Srivastava’s career began in the telecom industry where he worked with brands and companies like Idea, Aircel, and Vodafone.

“After a lot of experience in the telecom world, I wanted to solve problems for startups. I joined Chaayos as the head of marketing in 2015. It was a fairly new startup at the time,” Nitin shares.

By 2018, he climbed to the position of VP Operations and Marketing at Chaayos.

In 2019, Nitin Srivastava joined Stanza Living as the Senior Vice President for Growth Strategy.

“At the time, Stanza was keen on setting up its real estate transformation vertical. I played a key role in transforming real estate for them,” he says.

While Nitin was transitioning from Chaayos to Stanza, he met Kiran Reddy. Kiran created the popular theatre brand called Satyam Cinemas in Chennai.

“When I was exploring my options after Chaayos, I met Kiran, who wanted me to join as a CEO of one of his portfolio companies. I eventually went on to join Stanza Living, but Kiran and I stayed in touch. Later that year, Kiran and his team came back and said that they would be happy to help me co-create and invest in anything I wished to build. I am eternally grateful for that gesture, that eventually became the starting point for Pinch,” Nitin shares.

Nitin Srivastava with his family

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns following it happened, Nitin and his wife were working from home in Gurugram.

“We were just beginning to adjust to the work from home life. Sometimes, we would miss lunch and dinner. Busy schedules were to blame,” he says.

That is when they had an idea to start a meal kit brand – one that could make elaborate meals simply by putting ready-made ingredients in a cooking pot.

Nitin pitched the idea to Kiran, but was asked a very important question — “Nitin, this is nice. But do you see yourself running a meal kit company for the next 20 years?”

“I told him I’ll be back with an answer in a day or two. But that time period stretched to several weeks. In between I moved to Lucknow post the first lockdown to be with my parents,” Nitin Srivastava mentions.

One day, Nitin’s father met with an accident while he went out to buy fruits. The moment his mother told him about the accident, he immediately rushed to help his father.

But…something about the accident hit Nitin.

“I realized it was only luck that I was in Lucknow at the time my father had an accident, only because of Covid19, or else I could have been anywhere in the country. I would’ve still gotten the call from my mother, but wouldn’t know what to do, whom to rely on. That moment of realisation is when I think Pinch was born,” Nitin Srivastava tells Startup Pedia.

According to Nitin, micro-stressors – like the guilt of staying away from parents due to career demands, missing out on life events, or even something as simple as forgetting to send flowers to a loved one at a hospital – add up and keep the modern city dwellers in a constant state of anxiety and strain.

With Pinch, he decided to ease the everyday stressors of individuals and help them free up more time to do things they truly like and need, like taking a walk in the evening, going on a picnic, or hitting the gym.

In July 2021, Pinch was established as a home concierge and lifestyle management startup.

Pinch office meeting

Read More: Kerala Man Who Went To The USA To Become An Investment Banker Now Runs An AI-Trading Firm That Lets You Buy Real Estate In Fractions

JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES

Even though when Pinch began, there were other concierge startups also operating in the market. But Nitin Srivastava rarely looked at competition or obsessed over it.

“For the longest time, we didn’t know what others were doing. Later, we realized that other people building in the same space were actually focused on luxury concierge services. But at Pinch, we were more focused on everyday life’s problems,” startup founder Nitin Srivastava shares.

With a capital of USD 3 million (funded by Kiran Reddy), Pinch started with the thesis to anchor daily life and solve for micro-stressors and guilt in the lives of individuals.

Initially, the home concierge and lifestyle management startup decided to build a tech-hybrid model. But, the approach was changed and tweaked to make Pinch a human-first company.

“We wanted that at all times, any customer speaking to us has a human who is solving their problems for them. That connection is important for a startup like Pinch that, quite literally, involves itself in the personal lives of people. The biggest comfort that our patrons have is that they have one point of contact – a human (not an app), who knows them, has their context, knows their life and physical space” the entrepreneur says.

Next came the task of building a culture that resonated with everything that Pinch aimed to have: trust, integrity, and humility.

“Luckily, we were able to find the right mix of people who now act as lifestyle managers for our customers,” Nitin remarks.

The third journey point was to bring to life the exact magic that Pinch promised. To date, this remains something that Nitin and the team consistently keep working on.

“Being a human-led company that simplifies lives for our clients, we have always thought about truly relating and understanding the challenges our customers come to us with,” startup founder Nitin Srivastava explains.

Pinch Team

Read More: Bihar Friends Clock Rs 1.5 Cr Monthly By Selling Flavoured & Raw Makhanas In Bulk To 41+ Indian & International Food Brands

PINCH: ELIMINATING INCONVENIENCE EVERY DAY

Banking on the growing need for convenience and personalized services, Pinch operates as a home concierge and lifestyle management startup that makes an individual’s life a little better.

From running households efficiently and hiring and managing staff without hassle, to handling big purchases seamlessly, getting concert tickets, and even planning entire family getaways – Pinch does it all.

The user journey is fairly simple:Customers land on the Pinch website – either through online ads or referralsThey are then connected to Pinch’s team for a consultation call where they list out the areas of their life they need assistance in.Next, a suitable package is assigned to them and a dedicated lifestyle manager becomes almost an extension of their family. This lifestyle manager then takes care of everything the client wants.
