{"id":197129,"date":"2025-10-08T08:57:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T08:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/197129\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T08:57:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T08:57:12","slug":"china-proposes-global-drive-to-build-ai-powered-satellite-mega-network-for-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/197129\/","title":{"rendered":"China proposes global drive to build AI-powered satellite mega network for all"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese researchers have proposed that the world work together on a shared satellite mega constellation to deliver real-time services for everyone on Earth while preventing <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3308090\/china-plans-space-traffic-management-system-amid-commercial-satellite-boom?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">space from becoming dangerously overcrowded<\/a>.Instead of separate projects by companies and governments to build their own constellations, the plan envisions a common infrastructure network of about 48,000 multifunctional, AI-driven satellites, coordinated through a <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3310506\/china-launches-satellites-start-building-worlds-first-supercomputer-orbit?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared orbital cloud system<\/a>.According to the team from China\u2019s National University of Defence Technology, this would be sufficient to provide customised <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3273446\/china-begins-work-setting-vast-network-internet-satellites?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">internet, communications, navigation<\/a> and other services for the world\u2019s eight billion people \u2013 at a fraction of the satellite numbers currently proposed.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Their study appeared in the latest issue of National Science Review.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The project is led by Yang Jun, a professor of space instrumentation who has long worked on China\u2019s satellite navigation systems.
