However, it remains unclear whether the day will break the airport&#8217;s all-time record set last year.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 21. 2024, over 44,000 passengers departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Monday after F1 will be our busiest day this year but it\u2019s too soon to know if it will break a record for busiest day ever or will it remain just under last year\u2019s record breaking 44,043 departing passengers,&#8221; an airport spokesperson told CBS Austin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/government-shutdown-threatens-austin-airport-operations-travelers-brace-for-delays\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/government-shutdown-threatens-austin-airport-operations-travelers-brace-for-delays\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ALSO | Government shutdown threatens Austin airport operations, travelers brace for delays<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Data shows October consistently ranks as one of the busiest travel months at the Austin airport, driven largely by F1 and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Seven of the ten busiest days took place in October in the last three years:<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 21, 2024 \u2014 44,043 departing passengers (Monday after F1)Oct. 23, 2023 \u2014 43,243 departing passengers (Monday after F1)Oct. 24, 2022 \u2014 42,241 departing passengers (Monday after F1)April 11, 2024 \u2014 39,967 departing passengers (Thursday after 2024 Total Solar Eclipse)Oct. 20, 2024 \u2014 39,380 departing passengers (F1 Sunday)Oct. 14, 2024 \u2014 38,970 departing passengers (Monday after ACL Weekend 2 &#8217;24)Oct. 6, 2025 \u2014 38,793 departing passengers (Monday after ACL Weekend 1 &#8217;25)Oct. 16, 2023 \u2014 38,475 departing passengers (Monday after ACL Weekend 2 &#8217;23)Nov. 5, 2023 \u2014 38,252 departing passengers (Sunday after AfroTech; UT Game)March 11, 2024 \u2014 37,993 departing passengers (Monday of SXSW 2024)<\/p>\n<p>On busy days, airport officials urge travelers to arrive at least 2.5 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international.
