CLEVELAND \u2014 Cavaliers rookie guard Tyrese Proctor is giving Cleveland\u2019s front office something to think about.<\/p>\n
The 49th-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft dazzled in his preseason debut Tuesday at Rocket Arena, showcasing the shooting skills that initially had the Cavs intrigued, and now impressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor a guy picked late in the second round, he feels like he belongs,\u201d head coach Kenny Atkison said. \u201cHe\u2019s got moxie, right? Like he\u2019s got a little stuff to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Proctor scored 14 points in just 12 minutes off the bench. The Duke product missed just one of his six shot attempts, connecting on three of four from behind the arc.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust playing my game, not really thinking about anything, and I\u2019m just being present.\u201d Proctor said. \u201cWhen I\u2019m in that state\u2014just open mind, free mind\u2014I\u2019m just playing basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n
Initially considered a likely two-way candidate, Proctor is giving Cleveland\u2019s staff plenty to ponder.<\/p>\n
\u201cExcited about him. (I) wasn\u2019t expecting this,\u201d Atkinson said. \u201cI was expecting G-League, but he\u2019s going to push us to make some decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
