There\u2019s a buzz around both clubs during this international break.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that\u2019s why Lampard was in such a good mood to chat about Moises Caicedo and comparisons this week to two players the former Blue knows well \u2013 N\u2019Golo Kante and Claude Makelele. I played with both Kante and Makelele and they were both amazing,\u201d Lampard told <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/10\/08\/hes-doing-really-well-frank-lampard-singles-out-chelsea-star-for-praise-after-liverpool-win-24376982\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:talkSPORT;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">talkSPORT<\/a> when asked if the midfielder was on their level yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMakelele was a different type to N\u2019Golo because N\u2019Golo could really get around everywhere whereas Makelele basically sat in front a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I see that because of the style of play. Caicedo can really do the Makelele break-up stuff really well, he closes down space really quickly and he\u2019s showing last season and this that he\u2019s got the Kante bits in his game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cN\u2019Golo could do that. He could arrive at the edge of the box and score goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caicedo has a lot to prove \u2013 but don\u2019t get nostalgic<\/p>\n<p>Lampard knows everything there is to know about top players and playing in midfield in the Premier League. But we think Caicedo would have looked pretty freakishly good in a game in the early 2000s that Makelele was playing in. His ability to cover space would be like nothing they\u2019d seen.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of flaws to his game still, but there\u2019s also a pretty phenomenal player there already.
