Here\u2019s the list of NASCAR tracks that will see a horsepower increase for the 2026 racing season<\/p>\n
In today\u2019s episode of the Dale Jr Download NASCAR brought a bombshell announcement. Steve O\u2019Donnell officially stated that NASCAR will increase horsepower for the Cup Series in 2026.<\/p>\n
All road courses as well as oval tracks shorter than 1.5-miles will see the horsepower increase. The power output will now be 750hp.<\/p>\n
Currently, the level of horsepower on these tracks is only 670hp. This package will remain on ovals over 1.5-miles in 2026.<\/p>\n
Additionally, NASCAR has a 510hp package for Superspeedways (Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta). That package will remain in 2026.<\/p>\n
John Probst comments<\/p>\n
\u201cLike any other change that we are considering to the cars, we listen to the fans a lot,\u201d John Probst, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe listen to the drivers. We have stakeholders in the broadcast, OEM (manufacturers) and team competition and team business folks, so there\u2019s always no shortage of feedback that we get.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur fans are very passionate, they provide very candid feedback, so that all is very important to us. We do listen to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working on a lot of things in the background, we don\u2019t often always talk about them until we\u2019re ready to come out and announce an implementation plan for them. Their feedback is very important.\u201d<\/p>\n
