Richard Ashcroft<\/a> has said the Oasis<\/a> reunion tour was a \u201creal catalyst\u201d for young fans.<\/p>\n

The former Verve<\/a> frontman appeared on TalkSPORT, where he spoke about the impact of supporting the Britpop giants on their huge OASIS LIVE \u201925 tour \u2013 you can watch the moment from 4 minutes 50 seconds.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt almost feels like this summer is a catalyst for a whole new lot of momentum \u2013 not only for me and for Oasis, but the young people in the crowd,\u201d he told TalkSPORT.<\/p>\n

Ashcroft went on to recall a trip to Cornwall, where he had a \u201crelentless\u201d number of fans stopping him thanks to the shows. \u201cSo many of them have been to the shows, because the show are like 1.5million or something we played to \u2013 you\u2019re always going to bump into someone who\u2019s been there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shared that plenty of younger fans had told him they were now writing songs and attending music college, theorising the tour had been \u201ca real catalyst for them\u201d: \u201cI think that\u2019s a really exciting thing,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019ll probably see this come through into the culture in three years time. It won\u2019t be next year, it\u2019ll be two or three years when those 16, 17-year-olds have got those bands together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ashcroft continued, saying that the Oasis tour could shift attitudes away from the X Factor-style methods of production in mainstream culture where \u201cyou\u2019re already giving away a bit of yourself in order to sign on that dotted line \u2013 you pretty much know you\u2019re not gonna write those songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beauty of what Oasis did, what Noel<\/a> did by writing those 22 bangers \u2013 I mean, that was phenomenal for me to see \u2013 [the tour] really brought on what an incredible songwriter he was. To see it back in mainstream culture again and to see young kids be influenced by that, it\u2019s so much better if you do your own thing, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ashcroft then shared that young kids had previously asked him whether he had been on X Factor, adding that there was a \u201cdisconnect\u201d: \u201cThis was how we used to do it, we\u2019d get a rehearsal room, we\u2019d do all the hard stuff, we\u2019d play tiny venues, we\u2019d work on our craft. We\u2019d be individual, we\u2019d wear what we want, we\u2019d say what we want.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ashcroft released his new LP \u2018Lovin\u2019 You\u2019\u00a0<\/a>last Friday (October 3). The long-awaited album is his seventh album, and Ashcroft will embark on a string of solo dates to tour the record.<\/p>\n

He is due to\u00a0play a run of solo headline arena dates early next year<\/a>, following\u00a0a concert at Manchester\u2019s Co-op Live in November<\/a>. Due to high demand, Ashcroft went on to add a\u00a0handful of new shows <\/a>to the tour last summer, which now includes stops in Glasgow, Birmingham, and Newcastle.<\/p>\n

On September 29, Ashcroft also announced details of a stop at London\u2019s Alexandra Palace Park,<\/a> and shortly afterwards revealed huge summer show at Englefield Estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n
