FORT WORTH \u2013 The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s tennis team started their run at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Texas Regional Friday at TCU’s Bayard H. Freeman Tennis Center.

\nThe Vaqueros opened the regional in the Qualifying Round of 64 where juniors Madeleine Joffe<\/a> and Hitakamya Narwal<\/a> earned wins over fellow Southland Conference foes.
\n\u00a0
\nJoffe dispatched Incarnate Word’s (UIW) Ine Lamprecht in straight-sets, 6-3, 7-5, and Narwal picked up a hard-earned win over Antonella Taco Villarreal from Stephen F. Austin (SFA), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
\n\u00a0
\nBoth Joffe and Narwal advanced but fell in the Qualifying Round of 32, ending their run at the regional.
\n\u00a0
\nThe tournament is set to continue tomorrow with doubles action in the main draw as Joffe and Narwal team up for an 8 a.m. duel with Abilene Christian’s (ACU) Alice Klinteby and Masha Vrsalovic. Meanwhile, senior Rhea Makesar<\/a> and sophomore Mariia Bakhtina<\/a> will battle Texas State’s (TXST) Tadiwanashe Mauchi and Charlotte Roesch at 8:45 a.m.

\nIn singles, Makesar will make her debut in the main draw as she takes on Houston’s (UH) Elizaveta Morozova at 2 p.m.
