\n\tFollowing rave reviews<\/a> for its Venice Film Festival premiere in August, Neon<\/a> has released a new trailer for writer\/director Park Chan-wook<\/a>\u2018s No Other Choice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of its Christmas limited theatrical release before releasing everywhere in January, the South Korean black comedy\u2019s new promo shows Lee Byung-hun<\/a> starring as Yoo Man-soo, a down-on-his-luck family man who uses lethal means to take control of his career.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn No Other Choice, after celebrating 25 years as a health and safety officer at a paper mill in South Korea, Man-soo (Byung-hun) is brought down to earth when he is made redundant by the company\u2019s new American owners. After several months of unemployment, Man-soo decides to take a radical new approach to job-seeking \u2014 by killing the competition.<\/p>\n

\n\tBased on Donald Westlake\u2019s 1997 American novel The Ax, Chan-wook said at Deadline\u2019s TIFF Studio<\/a> that he found \u201ca lot of room to develop a bitter sort of comedy\u201d from the book.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, I saw the potential of that,\u201d said Chan-wook, noting that he added a \u201cnew premise\u201d in which Man-soo \u201cshares more than one similarity\u201d with each of his victims, \u201clike he\u2019s facing a mirror. So, while he\u2019s killing other people, he\u2019s actually destroying himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast month, the Korean Film Council selected the film<\/a> as South Korea\u2019s submission to the Best International Feature category of the Oscars.
